SHOTBLOCKER
Relieving pain from injections
ShotBlocker instantly reduces needle pain and anxiety associated with injections.
The ShotBlocker accessory distracts and comforts patients of all ages receiving intramuscular or subcutaneous injections by reducing pain and perceived anxiety. ShotBlocker is an innovative, patented device that is both simple and easy to use.
New accessory for injection pain management
ShotBlocker is a soft plastic disc that has several blunt spikes on its underside. When pressed firmly against the patient's skin at the injection site, ShotBlocker saturates sensory signals and disrupts pain transmission.
How does it work?
- Select the injection site and prepare the skin as usual.
- Hold ShotBlocker so that the small pins are in contact with the skin around the injection site.
- Press ShotBlocker firmly against the skin. Make a fold if you are used to it.
- Do not move or REMOVE SHOTBLOCKER UNTIL INJECTION IS COMPLETED
- Immediately begin the injection in the usual way into the space in the centre of the ShotBlocker. For subcutaneous injections, aim the needle as necessary to give the injection.
- If more than 20 seconds elapse between SHOTBLOCKER placement AND INJECTION, remove the ShotBlocker and repeat the process starting at step 2.
- When you have completed the injection and removed the needle, remove, clean and store the ShotBlocker.
Tips and tricks :
- Explain before the injection how the ShotBlocker works.
- Soothe and reassure the child by letting them handle the ShotBlocker
- Advise the child to look away during the injection.
- Press the ShotBlocker firmly against the skin to ensure that the contact points are touching the skin, which ensures the right feel for the ShotBlocker to be effective. Don't press too hard either, or it will hurt!
- The ShotBlocker does not eliminate the pain of injecting the product, but it does block the pain of the injection.
- Works for all types of injections, subcutaneous or IM, for vaccinations, allergies, fertility and growth hormone
